Dr. Elizabeth Newman, PsyD, MA, BCC, AP, DMT, CH

 

Elizabeth Newman has a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from California State University Sacramento, a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California, and a Doctorate in Psychology with Honors from California Southern University. Her degree as a Board Certified Coach was earned at the College of Executive Coaching and her supervision hours were completed under Mary Dapkus-Welty, life coach and founder of Fresh Intution, and her mentor, Dr. Gregory Salerno, a licensed psychologist and one of the founders of Palo Alto University. Elizabeth is a member of the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) and has completed dance therapy trainings at the Life is Movement Institute in Berkeley, California, the Harkness Dance Center at 92Y Lexington Studios in New York City, and the Embodying Psychotherapy Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Skilled in a wide range of dance movement therapy practices, she also has specialized training in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance abuse and addiction, and dance therapy for adults, children, and groups. 

She believes in the power of wellness through creativity and higher vibrational energy and has devoted her coaching practice to the study of mindfulness, spirituality, the creative arts and their relationship to the productive mindset. Elizabeth has served as a therapist at Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC) in Mountain View to provide counseling to individuals and families. She was staffed as the on-site counselor at Loyola Elementary School during her internship at CHAC. As a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) for the YWCA Santa Clara Valley, Elizabeth provided support to victims of assault at court hearings, local hospitals, and police stations. Elizabeth is a guest at the annual YWCA Inspire Luncheon as a member of their Inner Circle, which has featured enigmatic speakers such as Susan Rice, Dolores Huerta, Anita Hill, and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. She is proud to be present among these powerful instigators of change for women’s rights.

In her days as a broadcast journalist, Elizabeth worked in the newsroom at KTVU in Oakland. Elizabeth also guest anchored in live radio broadcasts with Nick Munroe on the Sacramento radio station KWOD 106.5. Represented by Marla Dell Talent and Talent Plus Los Latinos in San Francisco, Elizabeth has appeared in commercials, fashion shows, and advertising campaigns for Vital Plant Synergy, Macy’s, Credit Karma, Healthline, Copenhagen Furniture, Nordstrom, Asian Week Magazine, the Sacramento News and Review, North Beach Leather, and more. Elizabeth has always nurtured her creative side as a published author and an award-winning singer who has performed at festivals and events all around California.
